– Chelsea vs Liverpool saw the Blues cruise to a 2-0 comfortable win
– Goals from Willian and Barkley were enough to send the London side to the last eight of FA Cup
– This was Liverpool’s second domestic defeat this season, coming just days after a 3-0 loss at Watford Chelsea have sealed a place in the quarter finals of FA Cup following their 2-0 win over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night, March 3. Liverpool were looking to bounce back to winning ways after tasting their first domestic defeat of the season in the hands of Watford at the weekend.
The Blues would, however, get none of that as they staged a buoyant performance to down the Anfield dwellers. Both sets of managers paraded strong teams for this particular clash even as Kepa Arrizabalaga made a return to Chelsea’s starting line up. The Spanish keeper went on to justify his place between the sticks as he produced spectacular saves to keep Liverpool wards at bay.
The hosts drew the first blood just minutes into the tie through Willian who forced Adrian into an incredible save with his powerful effort. But the Liverpool shot-stopper went from hero to zero as he dropped a clanger straight after to allow Willian break the deadlock in the 13th minute. The Reds had their own chances to equalise but found Kepa in top form at the other end as the Spaniard on one occasion made a superb triple save to stop the trio of Sadio Mane, Divock Origi and Curtis from finding the back of the net.
